This website is dedicated to the enjoyment of Gloucester Park, in the original unspoilt manner that it was designed, that is ‘Open Space and Recreational Use’, according to the Covenant that was bestowed upon it when given to Basildon in 1957. [See Covenant]
There is a large Photo Gallery section where we have tried to show the true beauty of the park and preserve the many different aspects of it for prosperity. [See Photo Galleries]
‘Friends of Gloucester Park’ is a non-political group, established August 2002, and has ran many campaigns to try to protect Gloucester Park and stop over-development within the park. We were also recognised at the 2003 BTFC Public Hearing as the second and only other officially-recognised body. We are now the only officially-recognised body. [See ‘About FOGP’]

Gloucester Park
Gloucester Park is the only major area of open space land in central Basildon. Also please note there is a Covenant on Gloucester Park: “The land is not to be used for any purpose other than as open space land and for recreational use.”
[See original Covenant, click » COVENANT]Please note we had already lost about a quarter of Gloucester Park (the south eastern corner, bottom R.H.S. of picture) to housing around the early 1960’s.
[See aerial photos, click » AERIAL PHOTOS]We can’t afford to lose any more! ‘Gloucester Park is precious, it is our Family Silver’ — so let’s look after it!
